riding on the metro...

...on the way into Paris from the burbs.  Let me tell you, the burbs are the burbs, even in France.

so fucking French!!

I mean seriously.....a demonstration up ahead, on a Sunday.  If there's anything the French like to do, it's demonstrate.  I believe it's the national pastime, right after planning their next vacations.  And strikes.  I was there for three weeks, and there were at least four national holidays and a strike.  Luckily the strike started after nine in the morning, so I was able to make my flight.

Lover's Bridge

The lover's bridge is the only remaining wooden bridge in Paris.  The story goes that because one can see the water through the slats, couples hold each other close whilst walking across it......hence, the Lover's Bridge.  It is tradition for lovers to attach a lock to the fencing along the bridge, emblazoned with their names or a wish, signifying their everlasting bond.

near the Shoah Memorial, 4th

....one of the oldest residences in Paris, Jewish quarter.  I was given a tour by my new friend Jonathan.  He saved me from misery one night with his kindness and his mother's coq au vin, then took me on a tour of the Marais, my favorite part of Paris.  I wish I could say that I had the best falafel of my life on the Rue de Rosiers, but well.....

Paris, 11th

Creepy whitening center.  I was almost always lost in Paris, which wasn't so bad as long as I wasn't supposed to meet anyone.  Every time I found anything I thought:  "remember this...you'll never see it again..." but I came upon the Fair & White Center twice!

Deyrolle, Paris

It was forbidden to take photos in this Paris institution/museum of dead things.  Luckily, a little girl with her Mom's IPhone distracted the shopkeeper long enough for me to take this lone photo.  You should have seen the stuffed horse!!
